Welcome to Victoria Dock Church's website

Hopefully on the web site you will find out all you need to know about the Church.

Our Vision Statement

“Victoria Dock Church exists to see people and communities transformed by the power of God's love in action.”

About the Church

Our members come from all sorts of backgrounds, but we have one thing in common. We are finding out together what it means to follow Jesus and to serve Him in all we do. Right here, right now. You may just be looking, you may have questions or you may have journeyed with the Lord for many years - it does not matter, just come as you are.

Our Sunday morning services are informal and contemporary. We meet every Sunday at 10.45am in the Village Hall on Southbridge Road, Hull, UK. To find out more about our Sunday services click on the link.

Rev Jason Taylor & family

The Church of England began work here back in 1990, and has been conducting public services of worship since 1993. We welcome all who would benefit from membership of their local church. From 4th June 2007, the Church is led by the Rev' Jason Taylor (tel. 216130, email )and a leadership team (known as a "District Church Council") made up of lay members from the congregation. The Church is part of the Parish of Drypool.

What else do we do?

Midweek Groups

Christianity is a whole life experience. We each need encouragement to keep going, not just on Sunday but during the week, long after the sermon has faded from your mind. Small groups meet fortnightly :

“to encourage one another….

  • To follow Christ by sharing in worship, outreach and friendship together

  • To be a place of “grass roots” care and mutual support

  • To share joys and sorrows

  • To forge new friendships and deepen trust

  • To have fun together"

Groups meet on different days of the week. At the moment they are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Social Life

As a whole Church family we try to meet socially once a month. In the past, we have done such things as bowling, picnics, parties, meals at different houses, trips to the beach.

The ladies also meet regularly. In the past, we have visited Hitchcocks for a meal, had guest speakers and done some street dance.

The men have just started to meet and have done their first outing which was bowling and a meal.

Sunday Evenings

On the first Sunday of each month in the evening we have either a prayer meeting or a quiet reflective service. The evening meetings are a chance to be a more creative within our services and prayer life and to have times of quiet and space to be with God.

Children’s Work

We believe that children are today’s Church and tomorrow’s leaders. So we are investing in them. Every Sunday, except the first Sunday in the month, “Kidzone” offers fun, age-related activities and teaching, to help children know Jesus better. A crèche is provided for pre school children.

As part of the Church of England Parish of Drypool we have a Child Protection Policy which includes CRB checks for those who have contact with children.

AlphaAlpha

If you are interested in what Christianity has to offer, but have questions you want answered, why not consider Alpha?

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It’s relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun.

FairtradeFairtrade

As a Church we take an interest in social and justice issues. We are a fairtrade Church so all the tea and coffee we have after the service is fairly traded and once a month we hold a fairtrade stall.
